Founders Day Message from the Executive Director and National President PDF Print E-mail

Dear Brothers,

This December 10th is a day of great significance.  It was on this day in 1899, that a group of visionary young men set out to create a life-long fraternal experience based on three cardinal virtues—culture, harmony and friendship.  These virtues have guided Delta Sigma Phi through times of turbulence and times of great success. They have served to develop men of integrity and high moral character for over a century.  And even as our world continues to change, it is these virtues and their teachings as prescribed in the Ritual that will lead our Fraternity to realize its fullest potential.

Our most successful chapters share something in common.  They understand and embrace the Ritual of Delta Sigma Phi.  They exemplify what our Fraternity stands for by living the Ritual and expecting the same from their brothers.  These chapters realize that as individuals we are weak, as chapters we are strong, and as a Fraternity we are powerful.  Our strength and power comes from the bond we share.  In Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, that bond is our Ritual.

If Delta Sigma Phi is to realize its fullest potential, it is vitally important that each of our members, undergraduate and alumni alike, fully understand the importance of the Ritual in their daily lives.  Delta Sigma Phi teaches action, doing what is practical, and the contemplation of the ethical.  It means living, learning and doing.  It is not a creed; it is the living of a life.

This Founders Day we invite you to join us in recommitting yourself to the teachings of the Ritual of Delta Sigma Phi.  It is a commitment worth making.

Our Fraternity’s finest hour is before us.  We must seize it.  And we must remember that…

In furtherance of these aims, this Fraternity has recognized certain standards of attainment and gentlemanly conduct expressed in the ideals symbolically represented by the three Greek letters: DELTA, SIGMA, and PHI.  And it shall be the constant endeavor of the brothers who may be called to preside over and govern this Fraternity or its component chapters to further the precepts of the Fraternity by every reasonable means within their power, and they and each brother of the Fraternity shall exemplify those principles, by conduct as well as enforcement in order that the Fraternity may grow and prosper with honor to itself and that the world may ever be convinced of the sincerity of our purpose.

Very proudly, we remain…

YITBOS,
