MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University's Silver Key, a sophomore leadership honorary emphasizing community service, has selected its members for 2008-2009.
To be eligible for Silver Key, students must have at least a 3.0 grade point average. This year's initiates must be 2007 high school graduates and be in their first year at K-State.
Silver Key adviser Carla Jones, assistant vice president and senior associate dean of student life, said the group selects 35-38 freshmen each year for membership. Silver Key members participate in a variety of community service activities throughout the year. Past projects include highway cleanup, food drives and helping children and the elderly.
