20 K-STATE STUDENTS CHOSEN TO GUIDE WILDCAT WARM-UP
Twenty Kansas State University students will serve as counselors for a program that offers incoming freshmen much more than a campus map and a hearty handshake.
Wildcat Warm-up lets new students spend three days and two nights at K-State getting to know the people and campus while learning success strategies and K-State traditions. It is an optional program - in addition to K-State's orientation and enrollment program -- that is aimed at student retention. Wildcat Warm-up will be offered June 13-15 and June 18-20.
"The Warm-up provides new students entering K-State in the fall a chance to establish connections with current students, as well as members of the faculty and staff, during the more relaxed days of summer," said Emily Lehning, K-State assistant dean of student life. "Then they'll be better prepared for the excitement and expectations of their first semester."
Delta Sigs selected as Wildcat Warm-up student counselors for 2008 include:
Mike Nolan, senior in political science, Deerfield;
Ryan Willcott, freshman in pre-professional business administration, Leavenworth;
Travis Stuewe, sophomore in economics, Maple Hill;
Matt Castro, sophomore in art, and Monica Castro, sophomore in electronic journalism, Houston, Texas.
